Although the business trips In groups they can be a challenge, they can also be an opportunity to work together, establish contacts, get out of your own comfort zone and learn.

Therefore, today we bring you some tips to be able to successfully deal with business trips in a group, and some reasons why they could end up being beneficial to your professional career.

1. Plan ahead

If you work with a travel agency for companies or you have a person dedicated to organizing the trip, make sure they understand who is going to travel (for example, co-workers with mobility problems, allergies, different schedules, etc.). You don't need to plan all the details, but you should have an idea of where you're going and what you'll be doing at your destination. If you don't have a leader, nominate one collectively or take charge of it.

Taking the initiative to lead can be stressful, but it can also be fruitful for your career, especially if your boss and co-workers are satisfied. However, make sure that everyone's opinion is taken into account, otherwise the trip will suffer.

Also, don't feel like you have to do all the things together at all times. Unless everyone agrees, it's okay to also do things separately.

2. Get to know your teammates

If you are going to travel together, it would be good to try to get to know your co-workers, especially if you are traveling with people you rarely interact with. This doesn't mean you have to take up a lot of time beforehand, but you can talk to them a little before the trip to see how they're feeling.

You might find out that they're nervous about the flight or worried about their presentation. Or maybe someone gets very dizzy and prefers to limit themselves to activities on land. If you have taken the initiative to plan and get to know your co-workers, it is very likely that you can accompany them, and organize them in a way that creates a sense of inclusion.

3. Take time for yourself and set limits

Regardless of whether you decide to lead the planning of the trip or not, you must make room for yourself during the trip. This is especially important if you're sharing space with a colleague. Giving yourself time to relax after having to work all day can help you stay on track.

Consider eating alone or enjoying one of the hotel's services. Or maybe you want to go somewhere to put yourself to call or video call and catch up with your loved ones. Or visit a friend who lives in the destination city. But be sure to tactfully communicate to your colleagues that you would like to spend some time alone.

4. Don't share too much

Often, when traveling with work colleagues, people tend to relax (which is not a bad thing). However, if alcohol is involved, people can start to let their guard down and open up about personal things. Or they may speak ill of someone you're working with.

Be careful not to be the person who says too much. Even if you're having fun and other people are opening up, try to remain professional.

5. Participate in group activities

Some people are prone to avoiding group activities altogether. However, avoiding all activities can give your colleagues, bosses and business partners the wrong idea of you. Try to participate in some.

Group activities can be a good networking experience and an opportunity to collaborate. Sometimes a local excursion or a visit to a good restaurant can help everyone feel more comfortable with each other. Consider suggesting something that's easily accessible to everyone.
